Sheep are a great addition to a rotational grazing system, and we have added Katadyn/Dorper crossbreeds to the operation. Both are “haired” heritage breeds, meaning that they don’t produce wool, making them more resistant to disease and parasites and hardier against extreme heat and cold. Females reproduce twice a year, and generally produce twins and triplets. They are a wonderful complement to grazing cattle, eating lots of stuff that cows leave behind. Like our cattle, these critters are fed a diet of only grass and forages, and never grain.
